LOCATIONS
Picking out a location for your photoshoot means you have some control of what your photos will look like. If you like my light and airy style, you will want to find a location with lots of light colors and sky. If you like a more colorful background, you might pick a location with lots of trees, flowers or buildings. The studio where I do my indoor sessions is all white (with light brown flooring) so it's perfect for the soft dreamy newborn or maternity sessions. Choose from the list below for you or your family and let me know as soon as possible which one you love so we can finish your booking process.
Folsom Lake, Granite Bay
This location has granite rock beaches and a view of the lake. Early morning sessions will need to be done within an hour of sunrise and evening sessions start 2 hours before sunset. In the springyou will see lots of purple flowers in this area if the lake is low.
Blue Oaks Park, Roseville
This location is perfect for large groups. There is a large open field and lots of fallen logs for sitting portraits. The best time of the year to do your session here is in the spring and fall. There are no restrooms at this location, and a short 5 minute walk from the parking area.
Folsom Castle Park, Folsom
One of my favorite locations to do family sessions is at this park. There are so many options here. This log is perfect for any sized family. There are fields nearby, giant oak trees, a pond in the spring, tons of natural flowers and a bridge for walking portraits.
Roseville Studio Location, Roseville
This studio has the best lighting in town. I love the two windows that let in morning and afternoon light. The floor and ceiling are also white which reflect perfect skin tones. This is the perfect space for your maternity, newborn or winter/summer sessions. Furniture is also available for a different environment. Extra fees apply for the rental of the space.
Mormon Island Wetlands, Folsom
There are plenty of colors in the fall here, but one of the prettiest trees grows just off the trail to the left of the entrance to the parking lot. Parking fees are required here. No restrooms are available.
Serrano Pond Park, El Dorado Hills
Serrano Pond Park is located by the El Dorado Hills library. It's a large park with a gazebo, pond, waterfall, bridges, trees and grassy areas and also some buildings. This is a great place to get a wide variety of photos of your family. You will love the colors here in the fall!
Coyote Pond Park, Lincoln
This park is beautiful morning and evening. You can walk all around the park finding little hidden areas that make beautiful backgrounds for your portraits. There are no restrooms at this location.
Jensen Botanical Gardens, Carmichael
The Jensen Botanical Gardens offers a wide variety of settings for your portraits. This beautiful Olive orchard, rose gardens, tulips in the spring, a couple of bridges and redwood trees. The perfect little area for any size group. There is a porta-potty at the entrance to this park.
Bass Lake, El Dorado Hills
This little park at the entrance to Bass Lake has a lot of beautiful trees, fields and boulders, It's beautiful in the morning or in the evening. There are no restrooms at this area, so please come prepared.
Auburn State Rec Area
Auburn State Rec area has multiple bridges, a beautiful river and paths for your family portraits. It's located about 15 minutes from downtown Auburn off of hwy 80. There are restrooms located at the parking lot.
Sacramento Capitol Gardens
The capitol gardens has a wide variety of areas to do a professional profile, family session or wedding portraits. There is a rose garden, a desert garden and this really pretty view of the capitol. When the capitol building is not under construction, the steps and pillars are a stunning background for your portraits. Public restrooms are available.
Secret Neighborhood location, Placerville
Placerville offers some beautiful farms and roadside settings. This little setting is in a private neighborhood but it's off the side of the road and perfect for a family who is dying for those amazing fall colors. No restrooms are available here,
Pine O Mine, Placerville
This little apple farm has beautiful apple orchards, this gorgeous view of the Placerville valley, a barn, and a pond. You have to make reservations here ahead of time, so check with the farm to make sure your date is available. There are restrooms at this area inside the barn.
Starfield Vineyards, Placerville
This is the perfect location for your engagement, family portraits, couples portraits or even wedding portraits. It has a beautiful view of the pond, a flower tunnel, vineyards and trails through the trees. You have to reserve wine tasting to use this venue, so that's also a fun perk!
Lotus Park, Coloma
Coloma is located between Auburn and Placerville. It's a bit of a drive, but has a a beautiful park with a sandy beach area to take photos. The backdrop is so dreamy. I would recommend a morning session for this park. There are public restrooms located across the road at the softball park.
American River Park, Gold River
This location is located between Hazel and Sunrise along the American River. There is a short 5 minute walk to this location, so wearing walking shoes and then changing into heals is more comfortable. Restrooms are located at the park entrance.
WPA Rock Garden, Sacramento
Land Park is right next to the Sacramento Zoo. It has a beautiful little rock garden that has winding paths, wood fences and a variety of plants and trees. This location is very shady and doesn't have wide open spaces, so your photos will turn out very colorful and darker. This location is perfect for families who live south of Sacramento.
Folsom Outlet Area, Folsom
The park across from the Folsom Outlets is the perfect space for large groups or intimate family portraits. It has plenty of oak trees, trails and long fields of grass. The light at sunset is perfect and make the most beautiful background for your family portrait.
Maidu Community Park, Roseville
Although Maidu park has a lot of sports areas, there are trails with trees and long grass behind all the sports fields. Access to these trails is off of McLaren Drive. There is a short walk to this beautiful location and sunset photos are the best here. Restrooms available at the park.
Amos P Catlin Park, Folsom
Sunset pictures here are beautiful and these big boulders are just the size for sitting on for a family with older children. The trees are beautiful and let in just the right amount of light. It's the perfect place for a family portrait in Folsom. No restrooms available.
Vintage Vault Gold Country, Auburn
This venue has a fee and is the perfect place for an outdoor photoshoot with furniture. They have a variety of couches and furniture items for rent right on the property. The views are amazing, and the pond is perfect for reflection photos. Sunsets are best at this location. No restrooms are available here.
Downtown Folsom, Folsom
Downtown Folsom offers a wide array of locations for your photoshoot. I love the bridges area behind the Lake Natoma Inn and it's perfect for families, seniors, weddings, engagements and more. The light is perfect about an hour before sunset. Nearby is the Folsom Powerhouse where there is a brick building, white wall and river access for a different look.
North Natomas Regional Park, Natomas
Beautiful pampas grass surrounds this duck pond and is the perfect dreamy setting for your family photos. The walk is about a 5-10 minute walk as this area is around the back of the pond. I recommend either sunrise or sunset sessions here. There are no restrooms at this location.
Park Winters, Winters
Park Winters is a charming wedding venue, but they also rent it out to families when they aren't booked for a wedding. It's a beautiful setting with so many pretty spots to stop and admire the cultured gardens, ponds, fountains, flower gardens and of course the beautiful home. It's a bit of a drive, but worth it! Additional venue fees apply.
Placer Vineyards Park, Roseville
There is a beautiful trail through the oak trees to this little spot by the Heritage Neighborhood in Roseville. It has tall grass, an open field (during sunset) and fallen logs to sit on. No restrooms at this location.
Star Lounge, Sacramento
The Star Lounge is located right across from Sutter's Fort in Midtown Sacramento. This lounge is perfect for an engagement photoshoot, couples and even senior portrait. There is a cozy fireplace downstairs in the library, a set of a magnificent curving staircase and pillars outside. The possibilities are endless.
Zepher Cove, Lake Tahoe
Most of the parks on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe require a special photography 24 hour license, but I found this beautiful section of Zepher Cove and it's free to shoot there. The lake's edge changes with the seasons and sometimes you can walk out to these rocks in the background. This session was in the winter and you can see some snow on the mountains in the distance. Travel fees are $200 per session.
The Flower Farm, Loomis, CA
The Flower Farm is a wedding venue, but it is also a photographer's playground. There are orange orchards, a farm with chickens, a cute little white farm house, a pond and so much more. This farm can be rented for a photoshoot, so contact them for dates and times.
Bywater Hollow Lavender Farm, Lincoln, CA
This lavender farm offers so many options. They have a pond, beautiful trees any time of the year and of course the lavender fields in the spring. You can visit their website here: https://www.bunzlavender.com/ to book a session.
William Land Park, Sacramento, CA
This park has a wide variety of settings for your photoshoot, including a lot of trees, a pond, a rock garden and several pathways. This is the perfect place for a large group of people.
Dry Creek, Roseville, CA
This park is very close to Royer Park in downtown Roseville. Even though this park has the name Dry Creek, there is a good amount of water throughout the year. There is a wide variety of plant life down by the creek and a little sandy bank perfect for playful water sessions. No restrooms are available here.
Salmon Falls Bridge, EDH, CA
Sunset is the perfect time for this Salmon Falls Bridge shot. This river fluctuates a lot with the seasons, so it always looks a little different. There are no restrooms, and it's a bit of a drive, so please come prepared.
McCormick Park, Lincoln, CA
This park has a lot of tall oak trees , rolling hills, boulders and a couple of fallen trees that are great for kids and large family groups. The access to this park is through a neighborhood and it's about a 8 minute walk to this location from the parking area. No bathrooms are available here.
Gold Discovery Park, Coloma, CA
This old historic park has lots of fields, the river, a bridge and some old buildings that make a beautiful backdrop for your family photos. The park closes early, so your session will need to be within the park hours. Check online before your session to make sure it's open. There are public restrooms and restaurants nearby.
Bishop's Pumpkin Farm, Wheatland, CA
Bishop's Pumpkin Farm is only available in the fall but if you're planning a day at the farm, I am happy to meet you there for your family portraits, or your little ones pumpkin pictures. This farm is such a fun day trip and even though it gets very crowded on the weekends, I can always find a spot on the pumpkin patch for the perfect place for your session. Other fees apply. Folsom Point, Folsom, CA
Folsom point has some beautiful views of the sunset, tall grass, oak trees and of course the lake. It's best to arrive an hour before sunset to start our session in the trees and grass, then just after the sun goes down, head over to the edge of the lake. The sessions here have a wide variety of locations and views, but gets crowded on the weekends, so it's best to schedule your session during the week if possible. Parking fee is $12.
